Parametric Equations

In this tutorial the students will learn about parametric equations and how they relate to rectangular equations. Parametric equations describe the location of an object at a specific point in time.  These equations include a time component.  A rectangular equation, on the other hand,  only describes the path that an object takes.  Rectangular equations do not include the ability to tell where the object is located at a specific point in time.

Also, the students will learn how to convert a parametric equation to a rectangular equation by following a few easy steps in this 10 minute tutorial.

Finally, the students will find that the rectangular equation in this example is an ellipse, a conic section.
